Students of Gdynia International School participated in the Pomeranian Voivodeship Chess Championship up to the age of 7 and 8. Almost 140 young chess players from the region competed in the tournament, including seven representatives of our school and preschool.
The tournament took place on Saturday, April 15, in the the Naval Academy in Gdynia. The competition was organized by the Pomeranian Chess Association and the FLOTA Gdynia Military Sports Club in cooperation with the Pomeranian Voivodship Self-Government, the Pomeranian Sports Federation and the Naval Academy in Gdynia.
Young chess players from Gdynia International School who train in the school and preschool chess club competed with the best young chess players from all over the province. We are very happy that the coach – Mrs. Marzena Gajlewicz leads the chess club and takes care of development of the young players.
Playing chess is a competition that has a positive impact on children’s development – says Kevin D’Arcy, director and founder of Gdynia International School. It develops analytical skills, improves concentration and inspires creative thinking. These are very important aspects supporting the development of children from an early age.
